Kathiri - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Kathiri (Arabic: الكثيري‎ [al-Kathīrī]), officially the Kathiri State of Seiyun in Hadhramaut (Arabic: السلطنة الكثيرية - سيؤن - حضرموت [al-Salṭanah al-Kathīrīyah - Sayʾūn - Ḥaḍramawt]) was a sultanate in the Hadhramaut region of the southern Arabian Peninsula, in what is now Yemen.
The Kathiris once ruled much of Hadhramaut but their power was truncated by the rival Qu'aitis in the 19th century.
Al Husayn ibn Ali, Kathiri sultan since 1949 was overthrown in October 1967 and, the following month, the former sultanate became part of newly independent South Yemen which united with North Yemen in 1990 to become the Republic of Yemen.

Wadi Hadramowt and walled city of Shibam
The Kathiris began by conquering territory for themselves at the west end of the wadi, and then along the coast.
Originally, a sum of money had passed between the Qu'aiti Sultan and the Kathiri, in exchange for which control of the city of Shibam, with all its great commercial wealth, was jointly shared between them.
But the Kathiri soon took advantage of the absence from the city of most of the Queaiti men (they were at a festival) to murder those who remained.

Some of the coordination was done prior to our arrival in Yemen by Dr. Al Radi and Abd Al Rahman Al Saqqaf, the director of the Museum of Hadhramaut in Seyoun.
In Wadi Hadhramaut we chose the Kathiri Palace in Seyoun, a school in Shibam and the Ishah palace of Tarim.
As it went for Tarim, we also wanted to show them that our intentions were as we had described them: we felt they were very puzzled and mistrusting of two non-Muslim, non-Arabic-speaking women interested in an activity executed only by men.

Rashid al Kathiri, deputy president of the committee, which oversaw the study, told Asharq al Awsat on Monday that Kingdom drug traffickers and smugglers had increased in Saudi society, in spite of the government efforts to stop them.
Conducted in collaboration with the national committee to combat drugs and the ministries of education and higher education, the study aims to develop “schools and universities that will protect society from the dangers of drugs” by educating students and informing them of the dangers of drug addiction and its negative effects on individuals and society.
According to al Kathiri, the working plan was constituted of three separated studies and included an examination of all previous statistics and research on the subject, in order to form a comprehensive view of the challenges ahead.

Blessed with two great feet, he was unlucky to see two shots come off the bar in the semi-final against Ghana, which meant he "only" finished as joint top-scorer.
