Kathleen Quinlan is down on the floor on her hands and knees on a dusty film set, massaging an actor's leg between takes.
Quinlan launched her private practice as a massage therapist in 1996 and added work on film sets to her business nearly three years ago.
Although Quinlan is careful to make sure that her entire practice doesn't revolve around working on film sets, she certainly knows the drill.

Recently, Quinlan has been in two films in which the do-or-die stuff was left to a man. Earlier this summer, she was the wife who went missing in "Breakdown," a highway horror movie headlined by Kurt Russell.
Quinlan says that Anderson took the time to provide rehearsal interaction and clear story-boarded images of how the finished scenes would look--essential aids for the cast, who often found themselves emoting in a lonely void that would later be linked to special effects or the work of other actors.
Billed as Kathy Quinlan, she was given the role of Peg, who appears at the sockhop in George Lucas' 1973 nostalgia piece, "American Graffiti." In 1977, her performance as a teenager being treated for schizophrenia in "I Never Promised You a Rose Garden" seemed to mark her out for major stardom.

Kathleen Quinlan is the wealthy LA wife of Alex McArthur, who has imported French Lydie Denier as an au pair.
Denier is one of those French women who can't succeed when they pretend to be dowdy, in spite of someone commenting that she "looks like a nun", so it's hardly a surprise when she is transformed after the ubiquitous clothes shopping expedition, here in a montage set to the song I'm Alive on the soundtrack.
Regrettably, Quinlan is lumbered with such questions as "Do you love me?" and "Do you still find me attractive?" to clue us into her insecurities about having a younger husband.

This must have been one of Quinlan's earliest performances, and it is a heart-breaking one--sympathetic and vulnerable without compromising the more difficult and hostile aspects of her character's nature.
Quinlan's "sickness" is presented by her private world of a tribe enacted by Danny Elfman's Mystic Knights of the Oingo Boingo Temenos Theatre Group, who seem to be wardrobe-influenced by the American Indian.
Quinlan looks a little like the young Jodie Foster though much more feminine, and occasionally Andersson's English sounds stilted, which is inexplicable since she has spoken English on screen before this.
