Allegations of forgeries challenge literary estate of C.S. Lewis
Kathryn Lindskoog, an independent academic living in Orange, Calif., says the Lewis estate, including his editor, Walter Hooper, is cashing in on his fame by "drip-feeding" suspect and altered works onto the market for maximum profit.
Lindskoog nor any of those who profess to believe that 'The Dark Tower' is a forgery have ever looked at the manuscript." Lindskoog says she wanted to look at the manuscript but was refused; Hooper says she passed on the chance to review it.
Lindskoog also questions the secrecy that surrounds the Lewis estate, saying it is not clear who exercises literary and financial control and reaps the vast rewards of marketing such a beloved writer.

Lindskoog was discovering his work, Lewis began corresponding with another young American, Walter Hooper, who in later years said that he spent his time in the army with a rifle in one hand and a copy of Lewis's Miracles in the other.

 The Chronicle: Colloquy Live Transcript
Lindskoog's assumption about "The Man Born Blind" is that the forger took the topic of an actual story that Lewis once wrote that hasn't survived, and created a new story on that theme.
Lindskoog can certainly be a lively writer, I don't know if that is what keeps critics from accepting her argument, as such.
Lindskoog writes something to the effect of "If one wanted to offer the most damaging possible interpretation of Hooper's motives on X." Whatever X might have been, I forget; but it does suggest that nothing Hooper says is going to be treated as anything but the voice of human wickedness incarnate.

 Discovery Institute - Article Database - The Lewis Legacy-Issue 77, Summer 1998
Kathryn Lindskoog's retelling of the Comedy superbly achieves for our age the aims which Dante had for this masterpiece in his own age.
In spite of not knowing Italian, by comparing seven different English translations Lindskoog created an English rendering of poignant poetic beauty, both inspiring and accessible; and her thorough and detailed knowledge of Dante's life, work, and times comes though footnotes which are expertly written without being intrusive or condescending.
Lindskoog explains the medieval imagery which Dante and his age took for granted.

Kay Lindskoog, Detective: Not Sherlock Holmes After All?
Lindskoog’s summary, it is rather reminiscent of a different Lewis, with echoes of Babbitt and Elmer Gantry.
Lindskoog’s central allegation is that Walter Hooper forged many of the works published posthumously under Lewis’s name, most notably The Dark Tower, an unfinished sequel to Out of the Silent Planet, and two short stories, “The Man Born Blind” and “Forms of Things Unknown”.
Lindskoog concedes that a number of the “bonfire works” are genuine Lewis (four juvenile “Boxen” stories, part of one chapter of The Dark Tower, 16 lines of the poem “Finchley Avenue”).

I think Kathryn was very pleased about the fact that even though she herself was bedridden, she was able to bring people in other parts of the world together.
I related to Kathryn the story of my unusual upbringing and was touched by the way in which she accepted the veracity of my account.
Kathryn, however, had sufficient experience with the darker side of human nature to be able to accept the things I experienced at the hand of a well-respected Christian figure.

Her knowledge of each area of Lewis' thought is not only the knowledge of a well-read enthusiast (as mine may perhaps be), but here in her work one gets the sense of a profound scholar who has actually met the man. (And she did, by the way).
But this book by Kathryn Lindskoog opened up realms (literal "realms") of understanding about the man and his thought that I could not possibly have held together and formulated on my own.

 C.S. Lewis: Mere Christian
Lindskoog, who died last year, was one of the pioneers of C.S. Lewis studies.
She was so thoroughly immersed in Lewis' writings that, in reading this book, it is important to pay attention to the punctuation, because without it, it's sometimes hard to tell where she is summarising Lewis and where she is quoting him.
Lindskoog scatters assorted biographical tid-bits throughout the book, and even provides tantalising glimpses into the banter which flashed back and forth between the Inklings during their times together:
