		Eventually, Brier got roles in the off-Broadway musicals "Bat Boy" and "The Prince and the Pauper." Her agent then sent her on an audition for "One Life to Live." The part was supposed to last for only two shows, but the executives bumped up the part to five episodes.
		While she was getting the role on the soap opera, Brier was also auditioning for the lead role in "Hairspray," which opened in the summer of 2002 and, almost a year later, won eight Tony Awards, including best musical.
