Phillip W. Katz, better known as Phil Katz ( November 3, 1962 - April 14, 2000), was a computer program mer best-known as the author of PKZIP, a program for compressing files which ran under the PC operating system MS-DOS.
Katz soon replaced PKPAK with the new and completely re-written PKZIP, released as shareware, which compressed both better and faster than ARC.
Katz was found dead in a hotel room with an empty bottle of peppermint schnapps in his hand on April 14, 2000 at the age of 37.

Daniel Katz's new novel Laituri matkalla mereen ('A jetty to the sea', WSOY, 2001), tells the story of the impossible romance between the Bosnian wife of a blind Finnish colonel and a history teacher.
Katz (born 1938) made his debut and also his breakthrough with the novel Kun isoisä Suomeen hiihti ('When grandfather skied to Finland', 1969), in which he combined the history of his Jewish family with that of Finland.
In the 1990s Katz proved to be one of the few authors who, with lightning swiftness, were able to comprehend and describe the changes in Europe without losing contact with history.

Katz can be heard on a number of classic Spike Jones recordings, most notably making the astounding poly-glottal "glug-glug-glugs" on Jones' version of "Hawaiian War Chant".
Katz eventually mentioned to Jones' RCA producers that he had been working on his own parody tunes, combining popular tunes with Yiddish lyrics and instrumentation.
Katz switched to Capitol Records in the early 1950s, and remained with the label until he retired in the late 1960s.

Katz missed the point of the plot - probably because he was so bothered by the sound - I don't know - but his analysis is pretty much totally off-base.

I dont no what is going on with Katz's but they are obviously going thru so big changes that are not at all appealing and should not be visable to the customers that dine frequently.
Not 6 minutes went by and our order arrived and deffinatly satisfied as usual we had a dessert between the two of us which was plenty, our server asked if we wanted any take out meats for the refridgerator at home for those midnight snaks and we declined and paid the bill.
I had stopped going to Katz's in Austin due to the poor service and degrading quality of food, and took a chance on the Katz's in Houston.
