The town of Motomiya and the village of Shirasawa (both from Adachi District) is scheduled to merge to form the new city of Motomiya on New Years Day 2007.
The towns of Kawamata and Iino from Date District are scheduled to get absorbed by the city of Fukushima between January 1, 2007 to July 20, 2008.
The coastal region traditionally specializes in fishing and seafood industries, and is notable for its electric and particularly nuclear power-generating industry, while the upland regions are more focused on agriculture.

went to alex’s a i figured why be in kawamata, when i could be in the city and hang out a little.
so many students will travel into fukushima shi to go to high school, which is not that much different than me taking the bus from the west side of baltimore to go to city college high school, which was on the east side of town.
in the morning before heading back to kawamata, we went to his school where the students were preparing for they festival.

A Blue-eyed Doll was given also to Kawamata Town, where there was a relationship with the U.S. based on the export of silk textiles since before 1900.
The Blue-eyed Doll Exhibition of the dolls of Fukushima Prefecture was held from February 1 to April 6, 2003, at the Kawamata Textile Exhibition Hall.
The exhibition was sponsored by Kawamata Town and included dolls from 13 schools.
