Kazimierz Deyna has the reputation of being the best player in the history of Polish football.
Deyna’s three goals in the tournament included a superb strike against Italy from a distance of about eighteen meters.
Deyna had the distinction of being selected one of the top three players of the tournament along with Johan Cruyff and Franz Beckenbauer (Star Players of Mexico).

Unfortunately Deyna did not fit into Bond's plans and he moved to NASL side San Diego Sockers for an undisclosed fee on 28th January 1981.

Deyna made his name domestically in helping army club Legia Warszawa win the league in 1969 and was promoted into the national squads when Legia coach Kazimierz Gorski took charge of Poland.
Their emergence as a world power in the early 1970s owed a huge debt to his skills in the centre of midfield.
Deyna, who was tragically killed in a car crash in September 1989 after transferring to the United States, scored 33 goals in 84 internationals.

Andrzej Szarmach (May 10, 1950 in Gdansk, Poland) was a Polish soccer player.
With Grzegorz Lato at his right, Robert Gadocha at his left, and Kazimierz Deyna in support, Szarmach profitted from the absence of Wlodzimierz Lubanski to lead the Polish attack, the best at 1974 World Cup, with 16 goals.
While Lato finished first in the Cup in goals with 7, Szarmach, with 5 goals, also marked the competition with his imprint.
