After 1935 he retired from active political life and became the Voivod of Kraków.
After the Polish Defence War of 1939 Kazimierz Świtalski was taken POW and taken to Woldenberg camp, where he spent the entire World War II.

Peacefully on September 10, 2004 with her husband by her side after a valiant battle with cancer.
