Also displayed are mummies of animals worshipped in antiquity as the sacred animals of various deities: cats, a crocodile, an ibis and a falcon, in coffins.
Four stone Canopic jars with lids in the form of the heads of a baboon, jackal, falcon and man (the gods Amset, Hapi, Duamutef and Kebehsenuf) served as receptacles for internal organs removed during the mummification process.
The earlier type of coffin is represented by a simple box coffin of a child called Padiseb (Late Period; temple facade, birds and uraei, as well as a mummy resting on a bier painted on the walls).

In the Summer 1968 issue of Dialogue, on page 86, Richard A. Parker (Chairman of the Department of Egyptology at Brown University) identified the canopic jars as: "...
representative of the four sons of Horus, human-headed Imseti, baboon-headed Hapy, jackal-headed Duamutef, and falcon-headed Kebehsenuf." In the Browns' book, Baer identified the jackal-headed jar as the god "Qebehsenuef"* and the falcon-headed jar as the god "Duamutef," when they should have been named the other way around.
Klaus Baer is recognized as one of the most competent Egyptian philologists living, and yet he is evidently not above occasionally mistaking one minor Egyptian deity for another.
