Keenspot openly denies that being hosted on Keenspace will enhance a comic's chances of being "spotted" (a term used for being invited to join Keenspot).

Keenspot offers free comics page to papers - www.ezboard.com
As for the Keenspot experiment, what I think they'll find, just as I tried to explain to Scott Kurtz and his supporters, is that the hurdle you have is editors.
The biggest savings Keenspot could offer papers is if they were providing a preprint insert, but that would mean two pages not one, and require enough capital to cover the printing and shipping costs for what could be quite a period.
Keenspot's market would seem to be limited to papers where the syndicate fees make up a significant part of the total budget, meaning small papers.

Either Keenspot is a portal for high quality, professionally executed webcartoons, or it's a fannish collective of amateurs one step removed from an Amateur Press Association (and that one step only applies because it's online).

"Though Keenspot has been slowly developing a print syndication program over the past two years, the Keenspot Comics Page is an immediate response to the budget cutbacks strangling newspapers as of late and the fact that many have had to cut syndicated comics from their offerings due to the cost," said Chris Crosby, Keenspot Co-CEO.
While many Keenspot features could not be included due to their mature content and others due to their unusual size dimensions, 16 features were ultimately decided on for the page.
While Keenspot controls the sponsor space at the top of the page, space is also included at the bottom of the page for the participating paper to sell local advertising.

And while Keenspot claims to have two million unique monthly viewers, Crosby said, "We don't rely on our Web audience to sell through our books in stores, but there's definitely an overlap." He added, "We do everything we can to direct our millions of readers to the stores that carry Keenspot titles.
