	Kegalle - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
		Kegalle is a city in Sabaragamuwa Province of Sri Lanka.
		It is the Capital City of the Kegalle District which is one of the two districts belonging to Sabaragamuwa province (the other being Ratnapura.
		According to the the 2001 census Kegalle has a population of 86,581.

		An 18 year old boy, a grade 12 student of a school in Kegalle is in a critical condition at the intensive care unit of the Kegalle Hospital after being assaulted by seniors in one of the worst cases of ragging reported from schools.
		As he was seated in a Rambukkana bound bus stationed in the Kegalle bus stand the seniors who followed him had taken him out to a nearby shrub jungle and attacked him mercilessly.
		Since the boy seemed to be in a critical condition the people had rushed him to the Kegalle hospital where he was admitted to the intensive care unit.

		A number of CTB buses in Kegalle Depot are not functioning today owing to the lack of various spare parts to make those vehicles roadworthy according to Kegalle Depot Superintendent Tissa Chandrasiri.
		As disclosed by the Depot Superintendent forty buses of the Kegalle depot fleet of buses cannot be put on the road owing to the lack of tyres and seven buses of its fleet need their engines to be replaced with new ones.
		Formerly, Kegalle CTB Depot operated its buses in fifty seven bus routes in the area, but today in most routes buses (CTB) are not operated owing to lack of vehicles.

		In Kegalle district, police baton charged and used tear gas to disperse UPFA supporters who clashed with the police.
		A Sinhala daily correspondent Chandana Pushpakumara was attacked by an unidentified gang and was admitted to the Kegalle hospital.
		In another incident at Hemmathagama in Kegalle, three UPFA supporters were injured, when a group of UNF supporters, who were returning after nominations, had attacked a UPFA office.

		Mr.M.G.R Dayananda, UPFA Candidate for Kegalle Municipal Council was assaulted by a group of UNP supporters led by UNP candidate Mr.Laxman Dissanayake at around 2430hrs, 28th March.
		It is alleged that Mr.Dayananda was a former supporter of UNP, who was also the former deputy mayor of Kegalle MC, who had crossed over to the UPFA recently and according to CMEV Monitors an argument had broken out between Mr.Dayananda and Mr.Dissanayake, which was followed by the former getting assaulted by supporters of UNP.
		A complaint was made to the Kegalle Police by Mrs.R.M Janaranjani, wife of Mr.Dayananda at around 1045hrs, 29th March under EIB 41/49.

		As the President of regional youth club, Kegalle, I understood that youth volunteers need a good guidelines to manage the leaders of their district (since I couldn’t go around to each of the more than 400 youth clubs in the villages!) Hence, top management matters greatly
		Suddenly the Sabaragamuwa Province Council had founded the Kegalle district youth club for the development of youth skills and leadership!
