Sir Herbert Keith Speed RD DL (11 March 1934 at 05:15 GMT at Evesham) is a Conservative Party politician in the United Kingdom.
He was selected to succeed Bill Deedes as Conservative Candidate for the seat of Ashford in Kent in the October 1974 General Election, and was elected as MP with a majority of over 6,000.
As of April 2005, Sir Keith Speed is a Deputy Lord-Lieutenant for the County Of Kent, and Vice President of the Maritime Volunteer Service.

Keith, I have now come to the conclusion that no 2 of these Forevers are made made quite the same.
Keith, I also feel that the bolt on the pivot of the brakes on my Forever was destined to fall apart if something hadn't been done, and if they are ALL that way, everyone should do something right away to avoid getting killed by a car or something.

The great lesson of the race was the same one Keith was speaking of, conservation of energy (speed).
This hill however was much too steep and twisty for no brakes though, you just pick up too much speed and must slow down or crash after a couple corners, also my bike is small and light and does not noticably lose speed simply by turning.

Keith and his mechanic, Dave Rivera, have been racing this bike for the past three years at SCTA land speed events on a 1-1/3 mile course at El Mirage dry lake bed in the California desert.
At these events the entry speed is measured at the two mile mark and the terminal speed at the three mile mark.
At past events, record runs had to be backed up with a pass in the opposite direction within the next hour, and then the two speeds were averaged in case there was a wind blowing in any one direction.

I plan on rebuilding the rear wheel with a 40 hole 3 speed coaster hub as a work around (One of the brakes can be made to work, either the rear or the front, not both).
Although we might think that the roadster/3 speed is a specialty item, any wrench in any half busy bike shop would encounter many of them over the course of a year.
I have 2 Scwinn one speeds, one from the 50's and another that I'm geussing is 60's, and they feel very laid back in comparison to the Brit rides, which make me sit up all straight and proper like a schoolteacher or a mailman.
