Her first book of short fiction, Love in a Warm Climate (with a cover by the other Kelley Aitken, the artist), collected together a batch of stories which happened to share the Ecuadorian setting that will be the main backdrop for her first novel, but that doesn't mean she always writes about Ecuador.
Aitken has lived in a variety of places within Canada and elsewhere, but currently makes her home in Toronto, with her partner, who is a part time teacher and political activist.
