Born in Kemper County, Mississippi, Stennis received a bachelor's degree from Mississippi State University (then Mississippi AandM) in 1923, and a law degree from the University of Virginia, where he was a member of Phi Beta Kappa and Alpha Chi Rho, in 1928.
Stennis served as a prosecutor from 1932-1937, and as circuit judge from 1937-1947, both for Mississippi's sixteenth judicial district.

This should read, ``anticipated demands by May 2002.'' Table 4-1 of the FEIS erroneously states the diameter of stack number 4 to be 435 meters.
TVA considered these measures with regard to their necessity for avoidance or reduction of environmental impacts, cost effectiveness and long term benefit to TVA, its customers and the people of Kemper County, and has concluded that these elective measures are not needed.

The four combustion turbine units at the site are designed to start quickly and are operated on an as-needed basis, providing power during periods of high consumer demand.
Each unit at the Kemper plant was manufactured by General Electric and has a rating of 85 megawatts, for a plant total of 340 megawatts.
