  Biografia Bernie Shaw
Ken Hensley is best known for his years with Uriah Heep, years which spanned the entire decade of the 70's.
Ken Hensley s story can be traced back to a band he started as a youth called Ken and his cousins which was exactly that.
Ken attempted to streamline his sound as he had done with Heep's "Fallen Angel" LP and there were some outstanding tracks on it but the eighties were not to be friendly territory for Ken Hensley.

"Ken Hensley is a genius at the keyboards and one of the best writers of his generation".
Ken burst on the scene in the early 70's as the keyboard player, song writer and backing singer with Uriah Heep, one of the most successful British rock acts still around today.
Ken also knows the softer side with "I Close My Eyes" and "A Little Piece Of Me", before tearing into the superb "Free Spirit", a reflection of the man himself and also the name of his new band.

LET IT ROCK - Ken HENSLEY discography
A born-again Christian, Hensley set to write songs about Lord and was joined in his attempt by St. Louis, Ken's American hometown, band VISIBLE FAITH, which brought forth some strange fruits: one piece without a trace of an artist whose name's on the cover, and two featuring the trademark Hammond B3.
The rest, still, see Hensley doing his thing, keyboards and guitar measured well to not lurch to some particular style but to keep a mood, while the subject matter of the songs is mainly love, sexual and celestial.
If material of "Proud Words", Ken's first album to his name, would be no strange to the lot he was writing for HEEP at the time, all got changed for the sophomore effort, and eagerness "to devour the waist of life" turned somehow to "eagerness to please".

Born in London, 24th August 1945, Kenneth (Ken) Hensley moved with his parents, 3 brothers and sister to Stevenage, Hertfordshire in 1955.
Ken wrote most of the material, sang and played the Hammond B3 organ (mainly because the band already had the talented Mick Taylor on guitar).
Paul Newton asked Hensley (Christmas 1969) to join forces in Spice, since they were looking after a keyboards player to make their sound less bluesy and more progressive at the time.

 KEN HENSLEY: Running blind
Now that Hensley has decided to turn his back on Heep and continue under the moniker of Ken Hensley's Free Spirit, again I find it difficult to accept.
One of the Hensley trademarks is to have his organ play together with the guitars thus creating a much fatter sound, as is apparent during the intro for "Movin' In." The album closes with the fierce rocker "Tell Me" in which it's "all systems go" for the final time.
Ken Hensley is an artist doing his own thing through the years because at this time he’s making songs like he did on former albums, even if those were recorded about 20 years ago.

As Ken Hensley had explained in an earlier interview Free Spirit as a band are going to be around for quite a while and on the evidence of this performance any further recordings from this band should be something special.

Tonight's concert was a reminder that as well as being an incredible performer Ken Hensley has written some incredible material over the last thirty odd years but is still capable of writing catchy melodic songs which should bode well for the future of Free Spirit as a band.

The latter, according to former Protestant Pastor Ken Hensley, is the foundational doctrine of Protestantism, and so long as they believe this foundation is strong and intact your Protestant friends or loved ones will continue to reject the Church no matter how strong a case you make for any particular Catholic teaching.
Ken maintains that the issue of authority is the foundation of any worldview and if the foundation is good, the structure is good.
However, Ken maintains that Sola Scriptura is not merely one belief, but a complex of beliefs that embraces all that is implied by the rejection of an authoritative Church.

Ken Hensley : Anthology - Listen, Review and Buy at ARTISTdirect
This solid compilation explores the solo career of Ken Hensley, a lesser-known figure in classic rock who wrote many an FM rock favorite during his tenure as a member of Uriah Heep.
Although Hensley's solo work often utilizes an atmospheric production style similar to that of Uriah Heep, it usually tones down the heavy metal bombast to show off his skills as a songwriter.
However, hard rock fans won't be disappointed with this collection, because other tracks find Hensley returning to the hard-rocking style of his day-job group: "Brown Eyed Boy" is a fun rocker with a pounding, drum-driven tempo, and "Proud Words on a Dusty Shelf" is a rousing track driven by a twisting Uriah Heep-style guitar riff.
