  Ken vs. Akuma
Ken steps onto the blue sparring mat, and takes his stance, left arm up, bent slightly in front of his chest but pointing outward, right fist drawn back to his side and turned up as if he is about to do a Dragon Punch.
Ken hops up and turns around, smiling casually at his would-be opponents, who are dead serious, breathing heavily, dancing in their stances, full of focus and concentration.
Ken stumbles backwards, shaking his head as Akuma presses the advantage, slapping the knife-edge of his hand over Ken's right collar bone while pulling his right leg in to his left side before firing it out into Ken's stomach, picking Ken's legs up and out from underneath him with the force of the kick.

Spears had also been involved in broadcasting and was working Saturday mornings at a Louisa, Kentucky AM radio station when he developed a plan to fight apathy by linking school and home with a local, student operated radio station.

Scooby-Doo - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Ruby and Spears couldn't decide whether to make their dog a large goofy Great Dane or a big shaggy sheepdog.
After consulting with Barbera on the issue, Too Much was finally set as a Great Dane, primarily to avoid a direct correlation to The Archies (who had a big shaggy sheepdog, Hot Dog, in their band).
According to Ruby and Spears [2], Silverman was inspired by an ad-lib he heard in Frank Sinatra 's song "Strangers in the Night" on the way out to one of their meetings, and decided to rename the dog " Scooby-Doo " and re-rechristened the show Scooby-Doo, Where Are You!

 Don Markstein's Toonopedia: Scooby-Doo
He approached Hanna-Barbera about a half-formed idea he had, sort of a cross between the old I Love a Mystery radio series, which involved a lot of travel and mystery-solving, and the 1950s TV sitcom Dobie Gillis.
Ken Spears and Joe Ruby, then working as writers for Hanna-Barbera, fleshed out Silverman's idea, focusing on four young people (one of whom, Shaggy, was strongly reminiscent of the Gillis show's Maynard G. Krebs) and a large dog, traveling around the country in a van, solving mysteries wherever they went.
Silverman added the finishing touches, making the dog the star and naming him after a nonsense phrase in Frank Sinatra's version of "Strangers in the Night" — Scooby-Doo.

Occasionally, the writers (mostly Joe Ruby and Ken Spears) would throw out a red herring to put the viewer off the trail, but that was rare.
The animation was also typical of Hanna-Barbera TV shows, done on the cheap with limited animation and questionable draftsmanship.
It’s strange to consider, then, that the show originally did not have Scooby in it at all when it was first developed by Ruby and Spears.

The combination of Carleton E. Morse's 1940's popular radio program I Love a Mystery, in which three detectives roamed the world solving crimes and mysteries, and the 1959-1963 television sitcom The Many Loves of Dobie Gillis, about a scatterbrained teenager and his friends, was the look Silverman was after.
Silverman's quest was brought before Hanna-Barbera who assigned writers Ken Spears and Joe Ruby to create the characters, plots, and many of the story lines.
The show actually started out revolving around four teenage detectives who traveled the country in a van, called the Mystery Machine, solving mysteries in dangerous situations.
