 Cosmik Debris' Ken Stringfellow interview
Stringfellow: Yeah, well....I guess there are certain kinds of people who do, and certain kinds who don't, take in their audience's reaction to what they do.
Stringfellow: Well, it really was more like that, where someone would come in and add his input after something was basically completed, but Jon and I did have an agreement that we were a partnership from day one, so we'd split all rights and everything.
Stringfellow: To be honest, I always felt like anything I wrote could have been incorporated into the Posies; the Posies had the versatility to take a number of different things and make them happen.

Ken Stringfellow . Soft Commands [prefixmag review]
Ken Stringfellow is that friend from elementary school who always seemed more interested in talking to your parents than talking to you.
Despite the extensive band of indie cronies, Stringfellow uses his solo billing to set aside the pressure of his status as something of an indie-rock Kevin Bacon (I hear they play Six Degrees of Ken Stringfellow at parties in Seattle all the time) to celebrate the lavish, ornamented style of his aforementioned piano-pop heroes.
Ken Stringfellow is of neither caste, and this unique position coupled with his sage-like musical wisdom allows him to breathe some retro sensibility into modern pop in such a manner that a young up-and-comer like Sondre Lerche or Ben Kweller couldn't possibly sustain.

Since there was a 11.30 curfew and it only was 11.15, Ken returned once more and said he would be more than happy to play another 15 minutes for us, but that he had no idea what he should play.
You could tell from Ken's reaction though, that he didn't thought that was an unlikely request at all and he even though he was actually just done with tuning his guitar he immediately sat down at the piano and started playing the famous intro.
Ken had said about the Dublin show a few days earlier, that it was just a great night of music, and this certainly was too.

Former Posies front man Ken Stringfellow's latest, Touched is a pop gem, one of the few albums in 2001 that both sounds pretty and has substance.
His voice is both angelic and masculine, sparkling when the song needs it and adding grit when the melody calls for some dirt to shake up the scenery.
A true treasure, Stringfellow is one of the most underrated songwriters of the past decade, and Touched puts him one step closer to the recognition and credit he deserves.

 Ken Stringfellow live in Sydney
When his turn came around, ex-Posey Ken Stringfellow clearly (and justifiably) felt no such need to cover for the absence of former band mates or supporting musicians.
Nor did he want there to be any distance between himself and his audience, inviting everyone to step across the no man's land of the dance floor and come right up to the edge of the low stage.
All eyes turned that way to find that it was young Ken himself - having snuck round from the side of the stage, he was standing at the edge of the crowd joining in with the clamour, though hardly the spirit, of the massed pleading.

Though his name might be unfamiliar to all but the most dedicated indie rock geeks, Ken Stringfellow has been flirting with stardom for over a decade, first as one-half of the Posies, then as a member of Big Star, a sideman with R.E.M., and a producer for indie upstarts like Damien Jurado.
With the Posies on temporary hiatus, Stringfellow went into the studio in the summer of 2000 with legendary producer Mitch Easter, and the result is an indie pop album with classic sound that falls somewhere between Matthew Sweet and Elliott Smith.
Of course, the polished pop songcraft of songs like "This One's On You" and "Sparrow" proves that the singer/songwriter's sound would likely pack just as much punch even if he were rockin' it folkie style, with just an acoustic guitar and his elastic voice.
