		Kenan Evren was born in Alaşehir, Manisa in 1918.
		Kenan Evren served, first as the director of the Operations and Training Department, and later as the staff commander of the Ninth Turkish Brigade in Korea.
		Kenan Evren married Sakine in 1944 and has three children.

		Turgut Özal realized his presidential ascendancy, in President Kenan Evren's words, like “a genie controlling the ball.” General elections were held on November 29, 1987 and Özal's ANAP took first place with 36.31 percent of the votes and 292 representatives.
		When leaving from his talk with Evren, Özal told reporters at the door of the Çankaya Kiosk that he had recommended twice that “Evren remain in the presidency for another term.” Thus, it was thought that Özal had sent a message to the army, which might want Evren to stay for another presidential term.

		Evren made this statement in an interview with "Milliyet" journalist Abbas Güclü, who published this and other comments on 26 September.

		The mastermind of the Sept. 12, 1980 military coup, Kenan Evren, also the seventh president of the Turkish Republic, said military coups should no longer be resorted to in Turkey.
