		Kendall's history began when L.G. Kendalls, agent for Chicago and Northwestern railroad offered to purchase some land from J.R. Lyons to build a roundhouse near the village of Glendale but they could not reach an agreeable price so Kendalls went two miles up the Baraboo river valley (present site of Kendall) and purchased the land.
		The railroad bed that once carried ten to fifteen passenger and freight trains a day was sold by the Chicago and Northwestern railroad to the State of Wisconsin and in 1964 became the Elroy-Sparta Hiking and Biking Trail known nationally for the three tunnels along it's thirty-two mile route.
