In naming Kennesaw Mountain one of America's 10 most endangered Civil War battlefields, the trust said 1,200 homes had been built on the park's borders in the past decade and that 160,000 cars passed through the park each day.
Efforts to preserve the historic sense of place at Kennesaw Mountain are complicated by the fact that metro Atlanta has grown around it, said Noah Mehrkam, a real estate specialist with the preservation group.
