Kenneth T. Jackson (born 1939) is a professor of history and social sciences at Columbia University.
Jackson has served in various groups that advance the pursuits of history, including the Bradley Commission on History in Schools, the Urban History Association, the Society of American Historians, the Organization of American Historians, and the National Council for History Education.
In 2001, Jackson became the president of the New-York Historical Society, on the condition that his responsibilities would not preclude his teaching activities.

Jackson was serving a 30 year prison term for second degree murder and assault and battery with a deadly weapon in the killing of his former girlfriend, Freda Laverne Washington.
Jackson was sentenced to die for the Sept. 6, 1994, stabbing death of Wendy Cade at a north Oklahoma City motel.
Jackson admitted to police officers that if Cade was dead, he did it, but he did not intend to kill her, did not want to talk about the details of the killing, and did not remember much about what happened in the motel room.

Les did take Kenneth to the edge of the envelope several times, but Kenneth’s hand was like that of an Old West professional gunslinger ready to push the red cut-off button--and all the while grinning that “come on, I can take it” grin.

Kenneth T. Jackson, Barzun Professor of History and Social Sciences, has been named the new President of the New-York Historical Society, reported the NEW YORK TIMES 5/3/00.
When it became clear that would be able to continue teaching on a reduced schedule and incorporate other educational programs into the society's activities, he decided the job was a good fit.
Jackson, a big fan of the city, sat in his office at Central Park West and 77th Street and said, "We have the greatest product in the world: New York and its history."
