Kenneth, the eldest son, twelfth chief of the Mackenzies, soon after succeeding his father, was engaged in supporting the claims of Torquil Macleod, surnamed Connanach, the disinherited son of Macleod of Lewis, whose mother was the sister of John Mackenzie of Kintail, and whose daughter had married Roderick Mackenzie, Kenneth's brother.
Colonel Mackenzie's father was Alexander Mackenzie of Ardlock, and his mother the daughter of Robert Sutherland, Esq of Langwell Caithness, twelfth in descent from William de Sutherland, fifth Earl of Sutherland, and the Princess Margaret Bruce, sister and heiress of David II.

 Kenneth Mackenzie
MACKENZIE, Kenneth, Canadian judge, born in Ross-shire, Scotland, in 1804; died in Toronto, 7 February, 1883.
Mackenzie was retained as counsel by the United States government for the Fenians, that were concerned in the raid at Fort Erie, and succeeded in securing the acquittal of about one half of the number that were captured.
He was employed as crown prosecutor by the government of Ontario, appointed judge of the county court of York in October, 1876, and in 1877 judge of the Ontario maritime court.
