This county is part of Chicagoland and an outlying part of the Milwaukee Area.
According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 1,954 km² (754 mi²).
Interstate 94 runs north/south for 12 miles through the Kenosha County dividing it into an eastern third containing Kenosha and Pleasant Prairie and a semi-rural western two-thirds.

Surviving are a son, Charles "Chuck" (Carol) Burmeister of Kenosha; two daughters, Barbara Burtch of Coloma and Marikay (Leo) Chiappetta of Kenosha; three sisters, Jenny (Kautzer) Koehler of Sheboygan, Evelyn Brock of Joplin, Mo., and Rosie Showacy of Vancouver, Wash.; nine grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
A Kenosha resident for 30 years, she was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and a Laubach tutor for the Kenosha Literacy Council.
Surviving are three sons, Bruce A. of Kenosha, Jerald of St. Cloud, Fla., and William of Kissimmee Fla.; four daughters, Robin Robillard of Sturtevant, Susan C. Barnes-Mudersbach of Cocoa Beach, Fla., Patricia McCabe of St. Cloud, Fla., and Dianne Hegewald of Kenosha; a sister, Hertha "Babe" Hefner of Buford, Ga.; nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

While the national retail market is cooling, home sales in Kenosha County increased in the first quarter of 2006, according to the Kenosha Realtors Association.
In the city of Kenosha, new housing starts were up 39 percent in the first quarter, according to Jim Schultz, director of neighborhood inspections and services.
Schultz said there were 89 permits for new homes issued in the quarter, most for new homes in developments on the city's west side, compared to 64 at the same time in 2005, which was a record year for new home construction in the city.
