The Kent Downs Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) comes to an abrupt and dramatic end at the White Cliffs of Dover.
In fact the White Cliffs extend to Folkestone to the West and Kingsdown to the east, both stretches of cliff are protected as Heritage Coasts.
The WCCP is a partnership between, Dover District Council, Shepway District Council, Kent County Council, Eurotunnel, English Nature, The Countryside Agency, The Kent Wildlife Trust, Folkestone and Dover Water Services, Environment Agency, National Trust and Kent Downs AONB Unit.

The primary purpose of AONB designation is to conserve and enhance the natural beauty of the landscape, with two secondary aims: meeting the need for quiet enjoyment of the countryside and having regard for the interests of those who live and work there.

The smallest AONB is the Isles of Scilly (1976), 16 km², and the largest AONB is the Cotswolds (1966), 2,038 km².

The North Downs Way is a long-distance path in southern England.
It runs 153 miles from Farnham in Surrey east to Dover in Kent, via Guildford, Dorking, Merstham, Otford and Rochester, along the Surrey Hills (AONB) and Kent Downs(AONB).
The path (east of Boughton Lees, the southern section) runs along the ridge of the North Downs hills, and roughly follows the Pilgrims' Way path used by many pilgrims in the Middle Ages.

The name North Wessex Downs is not a traditional one, the area covered being better known by various overlapping local names, including the Berkshire Downs, the White Horse Hills, the Lambourn Downs, the Marlborough Downs, the Vale of Pewsey and Savernake Forest.

In late 2005 we were left six plots in the will of the late William Henry Hamilton, Jnr, and with this encouraging start we have now progressed towards the purchase of further plots.
