 Kent Hovind's $250,000 Offer
As Hovind would have it, there is some all-encompassing concept he calls "the general theory of evolution" that embraces (1) cosmology, (2) astrophysics, (3) abiogenesis and (4) biochemistry or genetics or something (given the confused "Early life-forms learned to reproduce themselves"), in addition to (5) biological evolution.
However, since Hovind has failed to provide any evidence as to his ability to pay the $250,000 and has instead produced only assurances that his word is good, Hovind, himself, has put the question of the value of his "personal coin" at issue.
Hovind's declarations as to his income and assets are not the end of this story, however.

Kent Hovind is a young earth creationist preacher based in Pensacola, FL.
Hovind's standards of "proof" are higher than any proof that could reasonably be expected from any scientific discipline.
While this does not directly affect the quality of his arguments on creationism ("Kent Hovind is a crook, and therefore is wrong about evolution" would be an ad hominem fallacy), it does raise questions about his character.

 CHRISTIANS CONFRONT KENT HOVIND
It's distressing that Hovind's website, which could be used to correct his videos’ errors and to post retractions, instead repeats many of the same flawed arguments, invalid techniques, and misrepresentations of others’ work.
There's no doubt that a Hovind is ruinous in this regard: his dishonesty feeds the scoffer's feelings of superior morality; and the scoffer's feelings of intellectual superiority grow as he or she listens to Hovind's ignorant, mocking dismissals of great scientists’ finest works.
Hovind adds to the disaster by saying that the scoffers refuse to accept the Gospel because they choose to be willfully ignorant of it, in order to indulge their sin natures.

Even allowing for your statement that the exchange was not quite as smooth as you rendered it, the gist of it is that you stayed on the topic, refused to be distracted by his diversionary tactics, and forced him to confront the division in the YEC ranks.
Hovind was surely unhappy to be reminded that many of his YEC fellows regard him as an embarrassment.
I noted Hovind turning to the good ole ad hominem attack - which, as defined by Locke, is a valid attack on the logic IF the presenter is the sole source of said claim.

 SkepticReport * Kent Hovind Dissected
If Kent really has a problem with public school textbooks saying that the Earth is billions of years old, then he should attack the evidence we have for our conclusion rather than just assert that all the evidence we have for such a statement is inside of a children's science book.
Hovind illustrates his next point, he confirms that it's perfectly OK to teach Creationism in public schools and quotes Supreme Court decisions to back up his claims.

 Kent Hovind
Unbelievable as it may seem, Kent Hovind is regarded by other creationists such as Answers in Genesis to be somewhat rigid in his thinking.
As Dr Hovind had recently been sentenced to 288 years in prison for various inconsequential legal oversights, it might just be something which had slipped his mind recently.
It would be very unfair to use that old cliche and say that Kent Hovind's degree "is not worth the paper it is printed on".
