While most Americans know of Kentucky as a center for the breeding of thoroughbred horses, the fact is that of 155 recognized breeds of horse in the US, 96 of them are bred in Kentucky and most of them are centered in or near Lexington.
And the center of all of this activity is the horse park.
The RV park has about 200 spaces and a swimming pool and other amenities, but reservations are advised if you are not willing to dry camp as it was full with quite a few dry camped as well, when we visited.

McCarron was accompanied at the press briefing by Kentucky Community and Technical College System president Michael McCall, Horse Park executive director John Nicholson, and the academy's inaugural field of 11 students.
While two of the horses used by NARA are Thoroughbred mares, the other 10 are donated Thoroughbreds and Mustangs, ranging in age from 2 to 12.

 Inside the Kentucky Horse Park Breeds Barn
The park's American Saddlebred representative is an 8-year-old chestnut gelding named Times Up, who is on loan from William Woods University in Fulton, Mo. Nicknamed "Latte," he stands 16.2 hands high and is shown as a three-gaited pleasure horse in the Parade of Breeds.
The Park's Appaloosa is Pretty Boy Floyd, a flashy gelding with white-tipped ears, a mottled nose and the customary white around the eye.
A 15-year-old Kiger Mustang stallion, he was originally captured in the wild and donated to the park by trainer Bobby Ingersoll of Pleasant Grove, Calif. The Kiger bears the dun and grulla coloring and the primitive markings of his Spanish ancestors.

At the end of the ride, we all (excluding Heather), after letting our horses have a drink, greeted all the horses (except Heather's, who was as insociable as it's rider).
I have seen horses that aren't exactly well cared for, and ones that are taken meticulous care of before, and none of them had hooves cracked like that.

We happened to be there during some severe weather and the park ranger announced on his patrol car PA that severe weather was imminent and to seek shelter in the bath house.
Park is secure; KY state park security patrolling the area, good to see security being new RV'ers.
Adjoins Ky Horse Park which is dedicated to entertaining and educating about horses.($10 admission/adults to CG folks)-Great place even if you are "not into horses".
