The Bluegrass is ringed by the knobs on the east, south, and west and by the Ohio river on the north.

The Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources recently stocked more than 76,000 sauger in the Kentucky River to bolster native populations and provide fishing opportunities in the years to come.
Native to the Ohio and Kentucky River, sauger (Stizostedion canadense) are river fish that thrive in river current and don't adapt well to lake environments.
In the lower Kentucky River sauger can freely move between pools because of flooding, but in the upper river, dams and locks that are permanently closed limit sauger migrations.
