Kenyan ministers quit over corruption scams - Boston.com
The recent resignation of his finance minister and the dismissal on Monday of his personal assistant mean the president has now lost four key allies this month in one of Africa's biggest corruption scandals of recent times.
Allegations by Githongo that several of Kibaki's ministers were involved in Anglo Leasing have badly damaged the government, which came to power in 2002 on vows to end the graft that had mired east Africa's biggest economy in poverty.
Many Kenyans are outraged by the suggestion that senior officials may have been lining their own pockets while roads remain potholed, electricity is expensive and supply patchy, and millions face starvation because of prolonged drought.

Clashes within Kenya's fractious ruling coalition extended last week to involve government policies, with Lands and Housing Minister Amos Kimunya declaring that the ongoing evictions in forests were a Cabinet decision and would continue, in defiance of his Environment Ministry counterpart Kalonzo Musyoka, who is opposed to the exercise.
Speaking in Nakuru, the minister, who is a lawyer, said the evictions were against the law and he would not endorse them because the land carved out of forests had title deeds "which were recognised by the government."
But it is instructive that Finance Minister David Mwiraria made no protest when hundreds of his constituents were evicted from Sirimon area of Mt Kenya forest in February.
