 Kerala Agriculture University develops a new GIS based application on LIS
The detailed field mapping of each plots in the panchayat was carried out by the Resource Analysis Wing of CED, in the scale 1:1000 clearly indicating the plot boundaries, location and area occupied by house, other built up structures in the plot, wells / ponds, and all trees and crop areas in the plot.
The software which is yet to be named will be released in February, 2001, by Dr. Pathiyoor Gopinath, Pro-vice Chancellor of Kerala Agricultural University, in the presence of Dr, Babu Ambat, Director, CED at Thiruvananthapuram.
This will be first released LIS software of Kerala and is expected to serve as a model for LIS development of Kerala.

The new syllabus recommended for the MA History course at Kerala University is embroiled in a controversy with the Democratic Government College Teachers’ Association here demanding that it should be with drawn.

Kerala University has decided to launch online courses for Information Technology with the technical support of the Centre for Developing of Imaging Technology (C-DIT), public sector unit of Govternment of Kerala.
The effort is also part of the University's move to go in for tie-ups with external agencies to overcome the impending cut in Government's budgetary allocations to the university.
The Institute of Distance Education, which is one of the major sources of income for the University, is also planning to create virtual class rooms and video conferencing facilities to attract more students in the coming days.
