The album went on to become one of the highest-selling indie albums ever.
However, the album is still in print in Europe, as there it has been distributed by Epitaph Europe.
Kerplunk included an earlier version of Green Day's future hit song "Welcome to Paradise", which was later re-recorded for the album Dookie.

Released in 1992, Kerplunk would be the album Green Day used to get themselves to the big leagues, leaving behind Lookout and Epitaph for the big bucks of Reprise Records, where two years later they would shoot to some degree of stardom with the album Dookie.
Kerplunk, like it's predecessor,1,039/Smoothed Out Slappy Hours, never even contemplates breaking from the genre, except maybe for a cover version at the end, which I'll get back to later.
This album is basically a waste of time apart from those two tracks, which Im sure you can get your hands on via other means, and not have to pay for this poor record.

One listen to this album makes it clear why Green Day, rather than any of their Bay Area peers, were the band that won the major-label lottery; they were simply better than the vast majority of their contemporaries.
This is by far green day's best album, i love everything they have ever done, including the stuff under the guise of The Network, but this is their best album.
Kerplunk is one of American pop-punk-rock (whatever you wanna call 'em) Green Day's first albums, and personally,I find it amazing.

They were writing songs all the time, and instead of rushing a new LP, they released a greatest hits album, comically entitled 'International Superhits', containing two new tracks entitled 'Maria' and 'Poprocks and Coke' and again, they did a brief publicising of this with a few TV appearances.

What may catch most off guard is the fact that even though they were slamming on their guitars and being as immature as possible, they still remained serious musicians.
Besides, this is the album that has the first recording of "Welcome to Paradise." This album is one of my favorites from Green Day, maybe even my actual favorite.
