Comprehensive information and links about John Edwards
After Kerry lost the election to incumbent George W. Bush, Edwards formed the One America Committee and was appointed director of the Center on Poverty, Work and Opportunity at the University of North Carolina.
Edwards maintained a positive campaign and largely avoided attacking Kerry until a February 29, 2004 debate in New York, where he attempted to put Kerry on the defensive by characterizing the front-runner as a "Washington insider" and by mocking Kerry's plan to form a committee to examine trade agreements.
Kerry's decision was widely hailed by Democratic voters in public opinion polls and by Democratic leaders in interviews.

Kerry's paternal grandfather, Frederick A. Kerry (born Fritz Kohn), was born on May 10, 1873 in the town of Horní Benešov, Austria-Hungary (in what is now the Moravian-Silesian Region of the Czech Republic), and grew up in Mödling, Austria (a small town near Vienna).
Kerry has said that his first memory is from when he was three years old, of holding his crying mother's hand while they walked through the broken glass and rubble of her childhood home in Saint-Briac, France.
Kerry has stated that he never thought he or his crew were at fault: "There wasn't anybody in that area that didn't know you don't move at night, that you don't go out in a sampan on the rivers, and there's a curfew." Nevertheless, he soon concluded that the policy should be changed.

John F?ing Kerry should have just considered himself lucky that he made it home alive (with bandages sticking out from under his clothes??) and just left the honorable men who served, and were still serving, alone.
While he was still in the inactive reserves in the USN (for which he never showed up) he went to Paris and met with the N. Vietnamese and brought their demands to the American People, circumventing the President, the Congress, and the Constitution.

I haven’t seen the complete transcripts, but the conservative slant is that Kerry got 4 Ds, and Bush only got 1 D. And the AP story mentions Kerry’s highest grade was an 89, and Bush had 3 88s.
But knowing a little about averages, since Kerry got 4 Ds, he statistically needed to do better than Bush in the rest of his classes in order for their averages to work out to be the same.
I didn’t vote for Kerry because I thought he was the smarter man. I thought he would lead America in a better direction.

Nuclear Beef: Bob Dole Calls Out NPR
Kerry was representing that he had served in an honorable way, and that he was well respected by his "Band Of Brothers." In fact, there seems to be a pretty limited subgroup of his "Brothers" who were willing to come out and support him, and more than a few who hate his guts!
My point was that the SBVs who didn't know Kerry, but were against him because of his activities, have no special insight to the man. As former vets, they actually DO have somewhat of an insight because it must suck to fight in a war that then gets condemned by a fellow vet.
However, they have no special insight into Kerry the man who commanded troops (and who almost uniformly supported him); they have no special insight to the charges leveled by O'Neill and the others; and they have no special insight into Kerry's alleged bravery (as his shipmates claim) or his alleged cowardice (as O'Neill claims).

I don't see how it can be said to be minor, given all the conservatives that have been criticizing Kerry for not doing it over the years and all the liberals who have made similar criticism of Bush whenever he failed to be 100% open about his military record.
