Carl Gustav Jung (IPA: [ˈkarl ˈgʊstaf ˈjʊŋ]) (July 26, 1875, Kesswil – June 6, 1961, Küsnacht) was a Swiss psychiatrist, influential thinker, and founder of analytical psychology.
Karl Gustav II Jung was born on July 26, 1875 in Kesswil, in the Swiss canton (state) of Thurgau, as the fourth but only surviving child of Paul Achilles Jung and Emilie Preiswerk.
His father, Paul Jung, was a poor rural parson in the Swiss Reformed Church while his mother, Emilie, came from a wealthy, established Swiss family.

Deirdre Bair: Jung--A Biography   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-08)
Born on July 26, 1875, in the vicarage of Kesswil, he was the fourth-born but first-surviving child of Paul Achilles Jung, a poor country parson in the Swiss Reformed Church, and Emilie Preiswerk, his unhappy and unstable wife.
Each was a thirteenth child of well-known parents, so the union of a thirteenth Preiswerk daughter to a thirteenth Jung son was regarded as highly auspicious in a socially conscious Swiss culture imbued with equal parts of respect and fear for omens of any kind.
Shortly after Carl Gustav I wrote this, Colonel Vischer-Preiswerk died, leaving a small legacy "to be used for the education of a family member who had the desire to become a minister." Paul reluctantly gave up his dream of a life of scholarship and was ordained.

 Carl Jung - MSN Encarta
Jung broadened Sigmund Freud's psychoanalytical approach, interpreting mental and emotional disturbances as an attempt to find personal and spiritual wholeness.
Born on July 26, 1875, in Kesswil, Switzerland, the son of a Protestant clergyman, Jung developed during his lonely childhood an inclination for dreaming and fantasy that greatly influenced his adult work.
After graduating in medicine in 1902 from the universities of Basel and Zürich, with a wide background in biology, zoology, paleontology, and archaeology, he began his work on word association, in which a patient's responses to stimulus words revealed what Jung called “complexes”—a term that has since become universal.

Carl G. Jung was born in Kesswil, a small Swiss village on Lake Constance, on July 26, 1875, the same year that Helena Blavatsky started the Theosophical Society.
As is so often the case, when Satan finds a willing vessel for furthering his web of deception, there is evidence of occult activity in that person's family background.
Jung reported that his maternal grandfather, who was the vicar of Kesswil, had "second sight" and carried on lively conversations with the dead—although he was a minister.

 Carl Jung
Born feet first, a prince of the scientific age in Kesswil, Switzerland in 1875, Carl Gustav Jung became an intellectual giant of his generation, and is considered by many to be the originator of analytical psychoanalysis.
Completing his medical education in Basel, Jung then passed through a series of apprenticeships under some of the brighter names in psychiatry, methodically setting up shop in cities in bustling turn of the century Europe.
Finally it is worth noting that we possess little worthwhile statistical evidence about the efficacy of Jungian psychotherapy.

Given that Carl Jung's psychological theory so fundamentally underpins most of the popular and highly regarded personality systems today it makes sense to explain a little about it here.
Carl Gustav Jung was born 26 July 1875 in Kesswil Switzerland and was the only son of a Swiss Reformed Church Evangelical Minister.
According to Maggie Hyde who wrote the excellent Introduction to Jung (Icon Books 1992), he was a strange melancholic child who played his own imaginary games, alone, for the first nine years of his life.
