		This settlement was called Keszthely "civic town", later Kiskeszthely, which is now merged with the main town of Keszthely.
		In 1739, the Keszthely lands of János Pető were bought for 24,000 forints, then an enormous sum, by the Festetics family, who later played a key role in the life of the town.
		Keszthely became a fully recognised town in 1954.

		Several expanding small businesses exist, concentration of capital is in progress, and Keszthely, in particular, has a strong chance to develop into a commercial, touristic and cultural centre in the region.
		A significant difference may be identified between the towns of the area (Keszthely and Héviz) and the villages around lake Balaton, and the small settlements in county Zala and county Somogy.
