Ketil Haugsand is a Norwegian harpsichordist and conductor.
In 1973 he received his solo diploma, and in 1975 the Prix d'Excellence at the Amsterdam conservatory where he studied under Gustav Leonhardt.
Haugsand is now a world-renowned harpsichordist and has toured extensively in Europe, Israel and the United States.

From 1974 until 1994, Ketil Haugsand was full time assistant professor at the Norwegian State Academy of Music in Oslo where he taught harpsichord repertoire, figured bass, pianoforte, early organ repertoire and coached baroque and classical ensemble on early instruments.
Since his debut in November 1969, Ketil Haugsand has been steadily building his career as a performing artist, both in recital, as soloist with orchestra and in chamber music, and has toured extensively in Europe, Israel and the USA.
Ketil Haugsand is the artistic leader of the Arte Real Ensemble and of the Norwegian Baroque Orchestra.

I have enjoyed Ketil Haugsand's performances previously on recordings of Bach and Rameau and when I heard he had recorded the Goldberg Variations I had to have it.
The result is a personal interpretation that separates it from the kind of dry performance of which there are many.
It makes you love the Goldbergs all over again, as Ketil Haugsand obviously does.

 First International Harpsichord Competition, Budapest
The competition took place September 19-30, 2000 with János Sebestyén presiding over a jury consisting of Máté Hollós, Anikó Horváth, István Lantos, Ketil Haugsand, Jacques Ogg, Miklós Spányi and Elzbieta Stefanska.
The competition opened on September 19 with a concert at the Liszt Academy in commemoration of the 250th anniversary of Bach's death.
It was easy to appreciate the different timbres of the four solo instruments in the excellent acoustics of the Academy's large hall.
