Imaging the City -- "Imaging After Lynch"
Kevin Lynch put forward as one of his criteria, "justice." His is a voice that must not be lost in our studies and debates over image making.
For Lynch, and for most who have followed him, it was enough to stress that some areas of the city were less "imageable" than others and, thus, appeared as blank spots when people were asked to draw mental maps of their cities.
Lynch's seminal work was translated into several languages, and his investigations of city image were replicated and extended with gratifying degrees of confirmation on six continents.

Kevin also talks about handling state in a page that is now dynamic, and shows us an example at Flash Linking which shows photos, and updates the URLs as you skip through pics.
Kevin also talks about how they have now got a nice way in which you can talk from the browser into Flash, which has been a BIG problem in the past (embedded plugins can only get variables from the browser on STARTUP, so they needed to hack around that via a proxy mini-Flash.swf.

Kevin Lynch received a BSE in electrical engineering from Princeton University in 1989 and a Ph.D. in robotics from Carnegie Mellon in 1996.
I will describe this new notion of controllability for second-order mechanical control systems, demonstrate how this property simplifies the motion planning problem, and present implementations of the theory on an underactuated robot arm and an underactuated ground vehicle.
He then spent a year and a half as a postdoctoral fellow at the Mechanical Engineering Laboratory in Tsukuba, Japan, where he also taught at the University of Tsukuba.

Kevin Lynch: A big selling point to both manufacturers and integrators is the open nature of the LONWORKS platform.
Kevin Lynch: In the same way we've seen PC's move from local area networks to essentially global networks via the Internet, we will see control networks become integrated into broader global and enterprise networks.

 CRN Kevin Lynch
Lynch's best-known work for Macromedia is probably Dreamweaver, the Web authoring tool, which he says generated more revenue in the first few months than the company expected it to produce in a year.
Lynch, 37, readily admits that interactive games are still his obsession and creative inspiration but he also names as a role model a more serious fellow, Ben Franklin.
Lynch says Central will act as a container for centralizing data from multiple sources, offline and inline, displaying or acting on it according to a user's preferences.

IRSC Statement for Kevin Lynch Commemoration
A fitting tribute to Kevin Lynch and the rest of the fallen hunger strikers would be a 32 County Irish Workers Republic, free from foreign imperialism and native capitalism, and with equal determination and commitment, we can yet write that epitaph.
Savagely beaten and abused by prison warders while in Long Kesh, Kevin Lynch could have taken the easy way out, accepting the label of "common criminal" and enjoying the relative comfort of prison life not afforded to the prisoners of war, but he refused.
We salute the courage and conviction of Comrade Kevin Lynch, and we give tribute to the sacrifice of the Lynch family.
