Key Largo is a census-designated place and town located in Monroe County, Florida, located on an island of the same name in the upper Florida Keys.
It is the first island of the Florida Keys and the originating point of the Overseas Highway to Key West.
The film, Key Largo (1948), starring Edward G. Robinson and Humphrey Bogart was set there.

Cay is pronounced as the letter "K." English maps of the Keys made just prior to the Revolutionary War of 1776 used the word "Key." A Colonial American court record of the "Libel of Dennis and Allen vs the snow St. Fermin alias Britanis" in 1744 used the word "Keys" referring to the Florida Keys.
The 1870 census population of the island of Key Largo was 60.
This complex was advertised as the "Key Largo Plaza" in a 1926 issue of the Key Largo Breeze.

The move is designed to save the Key Largo woodrat, a rodent known for building six-wide intergenerational nests, and the Key Largo cotton mouse.
Key Largo and Brevard County are among the top locations where the feral cat populations are threatening endangered or imperiled species.
