Keynote - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
At political or industrial conventions and expositions and at academic conferences, the keynote address or keynote speech is delivered to set the underlying tone and summarize the core message or most important revelation of the event.
Keynote speakers at these events have often gained nationwide fame (or notoriety), and have occasionally influenced the course of the election; for example, Pat Buchanan at the 1992 Republican National Convention and Barack Obama at the 2004 Democratic National Convention.
Keynote speeches are also given at the graduation and commencement ceremonies of colleges, universities, and major high schools, usually by accomplished academics or celebrities invited by the student body.

'Call to Renewal' Keynote Address | U.S. Senator Barack Obama
We can talk to the press, and we can discuss the religious call to address poverty and environmental stewardship all we want, but it won't have an impact unless we tackle head-on the mutual suspicion that sometimes exists between religious America and secular America.
Some of the problem here is rhetorical - if we scrub language of all religious content, we forfeit the imagery and terminology through which millions of Americans understand both their personal morality and social justice.

When we set up the system where it can be placed permanently in institutionally managed repositories, I believe that is going to provide one of the important underpinnings for addressing some of the legitimacy concerns about that kind of scholarly authorship.
Another thing that these institutional repositories are going to do for us is, I think, they will get a lot of the faculty out of the “playing system administrator in their copious spare time” bind.

Democracy depends on groups of people coming to terms with one another, and devising solutions that will address the needs of most, if not all, of its citizens.

However, when people can choose their news and information from an unlimited variety of sources, they usually will choose sources that confirm their pre-existing biases.
