Khalid Skah - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Khalid Skah (born January 29, 1967) is a Moroccan athlete, winner of 10 000 m at the 1992 Summer Olympics.
Born in Midelt, Morocco, Khalid Skah established himself first as a good cross country runner by winning the IAAF World Cross Country Championships in 1990 and 1991.
This was a disppointing outcome for Skah as, earlier in the season, he had won the 10000m race in Oslo against a very strong field and had emerged as one of the favourites for the finals in Tokyo.

He was successful in dragging Tanui clear of his main rival, Morocco's Khalid Skah, and on the final lap he allowed Tanui to sprint clear to take the gold medal.
However, the Moroccans appealed against the disqualification and Skah was reinstated the next morning due to the fact that the rule under which he was disqualified did not define a penalty.
Skah was reinstated because the rule wasn't technically a rule at all.

Skah further states that shorter faster distance workouts combined with extensive usage of interval training is producing better results than what is typically used in Norwegian running, orienteering and cross-country ski training; lots of easy long distance training combined with some interval training.
Skah told that he had experimented with three daily workouts but it didn’t work for him.
He felt it was important to train with tough training groups consisting of good runners where the distance runners could do shorter interval with the middle distance runners to take advantage of their speed and the middle distance runners could do longer intervals with the distance runners to take advantage of their endurance.
