Almihdhar knew Binalshibh long before their meeting in Malaysia - Binalshibh is the cousin of Almihdhar's wife.

The subject of that warning, Khalid Almihdhar, has been identified as one of the hijackers who flew American Airlines Flight 77 into the Pentagon last year.
Almihdhar and Nawaf Alhazmi -- another of the September 11 hijackers, also on American Airlines Flight 77 -- were among those photographed by police at the meeting in Malaysia.
But during that time, the CIA learned that Almihdhar had traveled from Kuala Lumpur to the United States and that he had a multiple-entry visa that allowed him to come and go at will.

She was not told that the CIA had tracked Almihdhar from the Malaysia summit and that he had obtained a U.S. visa and had probably traveled to the United States.
Almihdhar had indeed arrived in Los Angeles with Alhamzi in January 2000, then returned to the Middle East that summer, apparently homesick.

A Saudi analyst said the Saudis have confirmed a family tie between Binalshibh and one of the key hijackers, Khalid Almihdhar, who was on the airliner that crashed into the Pentagon.
Khalid Shaikh Mohammed, a 37-year-old Kuwaiti, surfaced in news reports last week after he was described by Abu Zubaida, a recently captured high-ranking al Qaeda leader, as the person who "came up with the plan" to hijack four airliners and target the World Trade Center towers and the Pentagon, a senior administration official said.
Khalid Shaikh Mohammed is probably at large in either Afghanistan or the semi-autonomous tribal areas of Pakistan, officials said.

Almihdhar came in and out of the U.S. on visas to meet with other suspects.
Originally the CIA denied they had information on Khalid after he was listed as one of the suicide bombers.

Yet the FBI knew that Shaikh paid for computers for AlHazmi and AlMihdhar and that he paid for a rental car the FBI knows was driven by them between San Diego and Phoenix for their visits with hijacker Hani Hanjour in the Fall of 2000.
