The province together with other 33 units and individuals have been granted the title “Hero of people’s Armed Forces’ and 101 have received the honour “Heroic Mothers” in recognition of their contributions and sacrifices to the liberation of the south and national reunification.

The agreement was signed during a visit to Khanh Hoa province by a delegation of Kharkov province led by Kusnaryo Ecgeny Petrovich, chairman of the provincial administrative committee.
During their stay in Khanh Hoa, the delegation also visited a number of economic and cultural establishments.

Grouper culture has developed in recent years in Khanh Hoa in response to high market value, the availability of unused shrimp ponds because of disease, and a cage culture tradition related to the fattening of lobsters.
A broad-based study was undertaken between January and July 1998, which examined technical, environmental, and socio-economic issues related to wild grouper seed supply in Khanh Hoa in order to assess the prospects for the sustainable development of grouper culture in the province as well as elsewhere in Vietnam.
Field work for the study was carried out from December 1997 to April 1998 in four districts of Khanh Hoa Province (Van Ninh, Ninh Hoa, Nha Trang, and Cam Ranh) which are the main areas for grouper seed supply and grouper culture in Central Vietnam.

Some 30,000 households in Khanh Hoa province will likely face food shortage if the drought continues as poor harvest yields are expected from summer-spring paddy crops, said Vo Lam Phi, chairman of the Khanh Hoa People’s Committee.
In central Ninh Thuan province, farmers are reportedly unable to cultivate 50 per cent of their paddy fields as water supply from the major irrigation system Da Nhim is shrinking.
Meanwhile, more than 3,100 hectares of farming areas in Lam Dong province are reportedly unable to harvest their crops while 8,000 other hectares of crops are forecasted to have poor harvests.

An earthen vase containing an estimated 50 kg of ancient coins has been unearthed in Ninh Phung commune, Ninh Hoa district, central coastal Khanh Hoa province.
About 30 kg of the coins have been handed over to the Khanh Hoa Museum, while the remainder has disappeared, it is reported.
The Khanh Hoa museum will wait for experts from Hanoi to identify the coins and conduct further excavations in the area to look for more coins.
