		The city of Khar Balgas served as the capital of the Uighur Empire, established in Central Asia in the 8th Century.
		The city of Khar Balgas was founded in 761 AD with the construction of a palace for Pei-Lo, the Uighur king.
		Unusually for a city of its period, the city is surrounded by lookout towers, fortified walls and military barracks; all of these components suggest that Khar Balgas possessed considerable military importance.
