For those who are not familiar with this term, kheers are a steaming hot bowl of goodness, somewhere between a soup and a porridge.
Kheer in various forms are a specialty of the many regions of not only India, but of many of the middle eastern countries.
Note: In all kheers, dryfruit used are optional, since though these add to the goodness and taste of the dish, not being able to have them or eat them, need not deter you from enjoying the wholesome warmth of kheers.

Kheer mix can be found in ethnic groceries stores.
If you do not have Kheer mix, you can substitute the Kheer mix, milk and sugar with 1 can of evaporated milk and 1 can of condensed milk.
Once the milk is simmering, add in the Kheer mixtures and the cut up nuts and raisins (if using) and continue stirring for a minute or two.

The temple of Kheer Bhawani is situated at a distance of 14 miles east of Srinagar against the background of natural sight near the village of Tula Mula.
Here many images were also found but nobody rebuilt the temple till the Samvat 1969 when Maharaja Pratap Singly who was the disciple and worshipped this goddess, got a marvellous temple of marble made in the midst of the spring which shines like a pearl in a shell.
It is said that after Ravana finished the worship of the goddess he offered the kheer (rice pudding) to the goddess which she accepted and since then it is called Kheer Bhawani.

Type: KHEER is a sweetened product of thick consistency resembling rice pudding.
TECHNOLOGY: Coarse rice previously soaked in water is added to milk in the proportion of six to seven percent as well as four to eight percent of cane sugar.

I've never had authentic kheer and am just going off my experiences with rice puddings in general, but: 1) The ratio of liquid to rice seems off, especially given the cooking times.
It's recommended that you simmer the mixture for 20 minutes, but it will take longer to boil down the milk mixture, as well as to cook the rice thoroughly.
