There are also 4 ordinary trains (3rd class only) that depart from Bangkok at 9.10 and 11.45 am and 3.25 and 11.25 pm, arriving in Khorat about 5.5 to 6 hours after departure.
Bus No.1305 leaves for Phimai every half-hour during the day from Khotat's bus terminal 2, The trip to Phimai (34 Baht) takes from 1 to 1.5 hours, depending on the number of passengers that are picked up along the way.
The last Phimai bus leaves Khorat bus terminal at about 10 pm;from Phimai the last bus is at 6 pm.

This was one of these things that puts life in prospective and should be done by all especially at this time of year.
Arriving at the bus station and standing in line for over an hour we finally figured out that all of the 144 buses heading to Khorat for the day were full.
He lost me when he started speaking the local language (Khorat) and I had to constantly remind him to speak Thai to me. With the other people I was totally lost and just accepted the food and beer with a smile and a Happy New Years in Thai.
