		The town of Khost is the capital of Khost Province, a mountainous region near Afghanistan's border with Pakistan.
		Khost's airstrip, with its 9000 ft runway, served as a base for helicopter operations for both the Soviet and later US armies.

		KHOST (AFP) - A suspected Pakistani suicide bomber who planned to target foreign troops and senior Afghan officials has been arrested in the southeastern Khost province of Afghanistan, officials said Sunday.
		The bomber was arrested in Zirai Tarkha area, two kilometers (1.2 miles) west of Khost city, the capital of Khost province some 140 kilometers (87 miles) southeast of capital Kabul.
		“We are looking for another four (suspected) bombers who are in Khost province and they might have some Afghan allies as well who have guided them in the province,” he said.
