 khuzdul
Elvish interest in Khuzdul was low in the First Age, but there was at least one exception: "Curufin was most interested in the alien language of the Dwarves, being the only one of the Ñoldor to win their friendship.
Khuzdul also possesses unaspirated stops, like French and Russian k and t, but unlike the situation in both English, French and Russian, Khuzdul k and t are phonemes in their own right, that must be distinguished from kh and th.
LotR Appendix E refers "the clear or glottal beginning of a word with an initial vowel that appeared in Khuzdul": It may be, then, that a glottal stop does duty for the initial consonant in a word of such a shape.

Khuzdul is the language of the Dwarves written with Cirth script.
Among the Languages, Khuzdul is unique in belonging to a separate language phylum, not related to the languages of Elves.
For Peter Jackson's The Lord of the Rings, the linguist David Salo used what little is known of the Khuzdul to create enough of a language for use in the movies.

Khuzdul is the language Tolkien devised for the dwarves… and Khuzdul is the language Mahal taught them before they were put to sleep under the mountains.
Khuzdul is a secret language, a ritual language which dwarves use mostly for recording, ceremonies and namegiving.
This is important to know because Khuzdul as a rule does not allow double consonants at the beginning, and consonant clusters of more than two at all… That is a fixed rule… and to be able to read Khuzdul in latin letters we need to know what letter combinations describe what sound.

The most important thing on Khuzdul is having a lot of fun together and always helping each other out.

There are many similarities between Khuzdul and the native tongues of men, such as Taliska, the language of the first and third houses of the Edain.

Khuzdul, in Middle-earth, was always perceived to be a harsh-sounding language, which was used only by the Dwarves.
Very few Elves were allowed in their circle, and even then, most elvish philologists avoided Khuzdul, for to them, it was an unpleasant language.
This is justified by Gimli's revering and friendly reaction towards Galadriel when she spoke Mirrormere's name in Khuzdul.

With the exception of a few fragments and place-names, Tolkien gives us little insight into the Dwarvish tongue (as the Dwarves kept their tongue secret, it is natural that little of it should have survived in records).
During the Third Age, the Dwarves seem to have considered Khuzdul in much the same way as the Elves of Middle-earth looked on Quenya, as an ancient and noble tongue of the past.
The Dwarves would more commonly speak, even among themselves, in the native tongues of the regions in which they lived, to the extent that they took their names from these languages.
