A 400kw wind turbine generator installed at Washigamine Cosmos Park in Kibi Town, Wakayama Prefecture, came on line on May 14, with 80% of its power supplied to Kansai Electric Power Co (KEPCO).
Kibi Town built the wind turbine generator as part of a project for promoting its development in the 21st century.
Kibi is promoting itself as an environment-friendly windmill town with the start of wind power generation.

Known as either Aridamikan, Arida mandarin, Arida mandarin oranges or Arida mikan oranges, it is important to remember that whatever the species, they are all branded as mikan from the Arida valley.
They are; the Kishu mikan, which are small and contain seeds, and the seedless Unshuu mikan (Wen zhou mi gan in Chinese) introduced to Wakayama in the 1800s and so-called because of the area in China which is thought to be one of the places from which mikan were brought over to Japan.

Shirahama Town in Wakayama Prefecture and Honolulu City in Hawaii have signed an agreement on Goodwill Beach City Relationship, under which the two cities will work together to preserve the pristine, natural beaches of Shirarahama and Waikiki.
A large-scale wind turbine generator was completed in Kibi Town, Wakayama Prefecture, this May. The facility, equipped with one huge windmill, is capable of generating 230 kilowatts of electricity, equivalent to the power consumption of 80 households.

 Japan Times: Two die in apparent murder-suicide
OSAKA -- A man was found strangled in a parked car with another dead man nearby on a pier Thursday morning in Izumisano, Osaka Prefecture, according to local police.
The driver's license found on the strangled man identified him as Masaaki Nagae, a 50-year-old doctor from the town of Kibi, Wakayama Prefecture.
He was found in the passenger seat with an electrical cord that was wrapped around his neck and tied to a handle above the door, police said.

Initially, one of the reasons that I bought my HD was that I was convinced that there were countless beautiful scenes and vistas all around me, but just out of my reach without independent transport.
However as you get closer to Kibi and Wakayama the road grows more congested with traffic and traffic lights.

 Big time fun in small town rural Japan
Sunday was a blast too, I joined a few other ALT's and some local Japanese in Mihama-cho for a hike up the tallest mountain there.
This village is set on the shore here in Wakayama, so the hike provided for some awesome views.
I left from Gobo so it was quicker, but the toll was higher than if I had left from Kibi, which is closer to my house.
