At Ringgold Gap, Ga., on November 27, 1863, the 1st Arkansas Infantry captured the colors of the 76th Ohio Infantry in a desperate fight, in which eight color bearers of the Ohio regiment were shot down.
On September 20, 1916, this flag was returned by the survivors of the 1st Arkansas Infantry during the thirty eighth annual reunion of the survivors of the 76th Ohio at Newark, Ohio.
The flag was placed in the hands of the Arkansas veterans, who then marched across the stage to the survivors of the Ohio regiment.

Ducks Unlimited recently purchased 800 acres of land near Dyer in Kibler Bottoms, Arkansas, that will be converted into wetlands for waterfowl and hunting.
Craig Hilburn, director of Conservation Programs for the Arkansas Field Station of Ducks Unlimited, said he hopes the area will be ready for hunting in November.
The area, which rests beside the Arkansas River, will be developed specifically for waterfowl, but “there will be a lot of other wildlife there as well — deer, turkeys, migratory birds and a lot of shore birds,” he said.
