Fantasy Records is a United States based record label, which was founded by Max and Sol Weiss in 1949 in San Francisco, California.
Zaentz had picked up Debut Records as a wedding present from Bassist Charles Mingus to which were added Good Time Records, Prestige Records (in 1971), Riverside Records and Milestone Records (both 1972), Stax Records (1977), Contemporary Records (1984), Specialty Records (1991), Pablo Records (1987), Takoma Records and Kicking Mule Records (both 1995).
Debut Records is a United States jazz record company, which was founded in 1952 by Bassist Charles Mingus, his then wife Celia and Drummer Max Roach, this short lived label was an attempt to avoid the compromises of working for major companies.

The Kicking Pigeons EP is an EP by the British skaSka is a form of Jamaican music which began in the late 1950s.

In 1968, he co-founded Kicking Mule Records with Ed Denson, a label that showcased idiosyncratic acoustic blues and folk guitar styles.
The co-founders dissolved their partnership in the mid-1980s, but Kicking Mule's catalog was purchased by Fantasy Records.
Grossman's sessionography includes recordings with the Even Dozen Jug Band (which also included such future luminaries as John Sebastian, Maria Muldaur and David Grisman), as well as albums by Paul Simon, John Fahey, Charlie Musselwhite and Happy Traum.

That one in addition to records on this label, kind of a cult label, Kicking Mule.
There were some beautiful albums on Kicking Mule that were actually very influential on me as well as on other guitarists.
There was this one tune on the record I've been telling you about, it was one by Leo Kottke, I remember studying that tune and really getting into the alternate tunings and understanding open tunings.

This record, which I believe is out of print, along with the book Irish, English...etc. Fiddle tunes for the Fingerpicking Guitarist are, IMO, essential to every fingerpicker's library.
I first started listening to Duck when he was recording for Kicking Mule back in the early 70's.
I think their records are on a small local label, but if you're out west, you might be able to find them.

With selections ranging from traditional ballads, both accapella and accompanied, to classic ragtime arranged for guitar, to a touch of bluegrass and old-time music, it was the kind of eclectic mix of music that I still enjoy performing.
They only forgot to press the Record button a couple of times, and we were able to record it in about four hours one afternoon.
To be honest, Stefan wasn't too encouraging, but he mentioned that he was putting together a couple of compilations of ragtime guitar for his record label, Kicking Mule Records.

This marked the end of solo Bloomfield releases on CBS Records until the posthumous retrospective Bloomfield, released in 1983.
Still available from One Way Records is the CD re-issue of the 1969 Buddah Records release, Two Jews' Blues, recorded by Barry Goldberg, which includes four tracks featuring Bloomfield on guitar.
The domestic release on E.R.A. Records is identical except for one song substitution.

Fantasy also built its landmark headquarters building at the corner of Tenth and Parker in Berkeley, California in 1970 which was nicknamed "the house that Creedence built."
In 2004 Fantasy was sold to a consortium led by Norman Lear and merged with Concord Records.

This album was originally recorded for Elton John's "Rocket" label in 1974 but was shelved until 2003.
We originally recorded about an hour of acoustic material with Eric Clapton on 12 string, Mac (Dr John) on piano, Freddy Staehle on drums, and most of the other musicians who were at the sessions.
This is the artwork for a CD recorded during the festival.

The record did quite well, selling in the area of 8-10,000 copies before going over to Flying Fish where it eventually sank into catalog oblivion and died a vinyl death.
But my next era in the recording industry was with Kicking Mule Records, and it got fairly serious.
I recorded two albums for the label in the early eighties.

A traveling salesman from Springfield, Missouri, Hunter took his reel-to-reel tape recorder into the hills and backwoods of the Ozarks, preserving the heritage of the region by recording the songs and stories of many generations of Ozark history.
The Trio disbanded in 1965 as a result of bad luck on their recording contract as well as the effect the British Invasion-Beatles et al- had on the sales of folk recordings.
Mike Kirkland of the original Brothers Four has stated that The newly released Cumberland Trio CD, digitally remastered from their previously unreleased recordings is terrific folk music and as good as anything recorded in the folk era of the '60s.

The records of the Armadillo World Headquarters nightclub in Austin reflect the variety of musicians and bands which entertained there from the early 1970s until 1980.
The collection consists of artists' promotional materials including photographs and several 45 rpm records, artists' contracts, ticket sales files, and promotional and demonstrational tapes.
Other materials in the collection concern the business establishment itself, including financial records, correspondence, and other files generated from the planning, preparation, and promotion of the Armadillo World Headquarters' sixth Birthday Party in July of 1976.

This excellent anthology is mostly taken from long out of print LPs released by the Kicking Mule company and they will introduce you to a number of excellent guitarists, some of whom you won't find anywhere else: Dave Evans, Davey Graham, Leo Wijnkamp Jr., Ton Van Bergeryk, Duck Baker.
Batdorf & Rodney - Batdorf & Rodney, released in 1972, on Arista Records.
The duo recently knocked me out during an NPR inerview so maybe one of their other disc's would be even better.

Kicking Mule hints that Ruby Green is a pseudonym for a well-known Bay Area singer.
To these ears, both her voice and style very much resemble Terry Garthwaite's, though there's a rawness to her singing (particularly on "Washerwoman" which also boasts excellent interplay between Katzman on slide and Goldstein on 12-string) which I wouldn't automatically associate with Garthwaite.
Katzman and friends have come to clear, individual voice thru the tradition, an extremely difficult task and one which to my mind puts them alongside Ry Cooder, John Hammond and the handful of others who have managed to pull it off.
