 EXCLUSIONARY ZONING - PUBLIC SCHOOLS : PA Land Use
In this case only 2% of the Township was zoned R3, the only zone which allowed for school buildings.
The court found that the ordinance "effectively precluded" the erection of a school in the Township and thus violated the "fair share" doctrine as stated in Township of Willistown v.
Because no schools were located in the township and the township was in a population growth area that critically needed schools, the ordinance was held unconstitutional because it failed to provide for its fair share of land for development of public schools.

During his stay in the Hospital in York, PA he was given a leave to visit Michigan, where he was seen by a Doctor in one of the Detroit Hospitals.
Another soldier Albert Ganong from Nankin Township, enlisted in Company K of the 24th Michigan Infantry on August 8, 1862 and was captured in battle in late 1862 and died as a prisoner at Libby Prison, Richmond, VA on January 11, 1863.
I was happy and surprised that Five (5) Kidder's served in the 2nd Michigan Infantry.

 Fire Chief's Brother Is Suspect In Kidder Township Arsons
Moments after being arraigned Thursday on arson and related charges, the brother of Kidder Township Fire Chief David Troell admitted he helped start a fire at a vacant building and tried with two other Kidder firefighters to set a brush fire.
Troell and Ronald G. Kearns, 19, of Dennison Township, Luzerne County, surrendered to police, then were arraigned before District Judge Joseph Homanko of Weatherly, who set cash bail at $55,000 for Kearns and $100,000 for Troell.
Troell was interviewed June 12 and said he saw Kehler on June 7 pour gas and oil into an empty water bottle and insert a rag into it to serve as a wick.

 Kidder Firefighter Set Fires To Kill Self
In May, John Kehler, then a Kidder Township firefighter, doused a vacant building with flammable fluid, set it afire and then, when a fire alarm sounded, returned to the building to fight the blaze.
A third volunteer firefighter, Ronald G. Kearns, 19, of Dennison Township, Luzerne County, has pleaded guilty to one count each of arson and conspiracy to commit criminal mischief and is scheduled for sentencing next week.
In court, Kehler and Troell, the brother of Kidder Fire Chief David Troell, apologized and said they hope their actions don't reflect on other firefighters.
