		Born Pauline Matthews on March 6th 1947, in Keighley near Bradford, Yorkshire, England, Kiki Dee is a highly successful singer/songwriter, with a career that has lasted over 30 years.
		She was once the first non-African/American artist signed to Motown Records and in the 1970s and 1980s was regularly voted the top UK female singer with her powerful and soulful voice equally suited to rockers or ballads.
		Kiki Dee has also appeared in musical theatre notably in the lead role in the West End musical Blood Brothers.

		Kiki (born in Bradford as Pauline Matthews on March of 1947) in 2001 is still blessed with a voice most of our Top 40 constituents would flog their behinds for.
		You could tell Kiki was contesting a Cold but her voice still shone and expressed the sentiments she wanted, really capturing the soul of the songs.

		After her early career on Motown, Kiki Dee moved into the soft-rock arena with 1973's Loving and Free, with her mate Elton John on keyboards, including Mellotron (two of the songs are also John/Taupin compositions).
		Don't go even less out of your way for her biggest (as against best) hit, '76's Don't Go Breaking My Heart, a duet with Elton, and possibly one of the most irritating hits of the decade, against stiff competition.
		Sorry to be so hard on Kiki - she's got a great voice, but everything I've heard by her bar I've Got The Music is pretty ropey.
